Demi Lovato Seeks 'Amicable Resolution' With Alex Welch
Demi Lovato's lawyers are seeking to prevent a legal battle with a dancer who accused the Disney star of punching her by offering a financial settlement, according to a new report. Attorneys for the actress/singer are believed to have contacted Alex Welch about agreeing a deal outside of court after she threatened to "pursue litigation" against Lovato for alleged assault.Lovato is said to have lost her temper and lashed out at Welch in October while they were traveling on a plane, leaving the backing dancer with a black eye and a bruised cheekbone. The 18-year-old star subsequently pulled out of a world tour with the Jonas Brothers to check into rehab for undisclosed "emotional and physical issues".
Welch spoke out about the rumored incident earlier this week, revealing she plans to take Lovato to court if she refuses to apologize - but the two parties now appear to be resolving their dispute.
Dancer Looks to Sue Demi Lovato, Still Waiting for Apology
Demi Lovato might be served with a lawsuit by the female dancer she punched in the face back in October. Alex Welch has finally broken her silence over the altercation, and her Beverly Hills attorney Donald Karpel has told People magazine the dancer will sue the "Sonny with a Chance" star if she doesn't send her an apology.21-year-old Alex shared to the magazine, "To this day, I haven't gotten an apology. I've heard nothing." She added, "That's sad if you think that person is your friend." A source close to the "Here We Go Again" singer, however, claimed, "Demi hasn't been able to call Alex because she is sequestered in treatment, but multiple efforts have been made to reach out to her."
Despite the alleged situation, Alex's lawyer stated, "We have contacted the Lovato camp and we are waiting for a response. If we don't hear back, we will pursue litigation.
